Multi-location billing

Many stores. One GSTIN, one clean set of books.

A second outlet shouldn't mean a second system, a shared login, or two clerks fighting over the same invoice number. Finkitaabh runs every store and godown under one GSTIN, each with its own billing series and its own staff — and rolls all of it into one set of books and one GST return.

What breaks when one GSTIN runs many counters

Under GST, several stores in the same state trade on one registration — but the billing reality on the ground is many counters running at once. Share one number series across them and two clerks eventually hand out the same invoice number, which is a Rule 46 problem waiting for an audit. Split them by hand in a spreadsheet and the counters drift, gaps appear, and nobody can say for certain which store a document came from.

The other half of the problem is people. The Kanpur clerk has no business editing Lucknow's invoices, and neither counter should see the other branch's margins or ledgers. Most billing software answers this with one shared login and a great deal of trust.

Finkitaabh treats a location as a first-class thing. Each store is a location with its own code, state and city, its own gapless billing series, and its own staff who can see and edit only their branch's documents — while GSTR-1, 3B and 9, the ledger, stock valuation and the owner's dashboard consolidate across every location automatically.

Separate where it should be. Consolidated where it counts.

🏬

A location master

Each store or godown is a location with its own code, state and city — from a bundled offline India cities dataset — and an optional own-GSTIN for a future multi-state setup.

🔢

Per-location number series

Every location bills into its own gapless, concurrency-safe counter, so two clerks billing at once can never collide or skip a number — and a guard refuses two locations sharing the same number shape.

🔒

Branch-scoped staff

Assign a member to one or more locations and they see and edit only those locations' documents — anything outside their scope returns a 404. Owners and managers stay unrestricted; a reassignment takes effect on next sign-in.

🏷

Every document tagged

Invoices, quotations, sale orders, delivery challans and sales returns all carry their location, with a Location column on every register and picker, so you see exactly which store each document came from.

⚙️

Numbering you control

Set prefix, suffix, separator, minimum digits, financial-year format and reset policy — never, financial year, calendar year, monthly or quarterly — per document type, with a live preview and a duplicate-checked manual override.

🏛

One consolidated return

However many locations bill, GSTR-1, 3B and the GSTR-9 annual return fold out of the combined books, because every store posts into one double-entry ledger under the single GSTIN.

Frequently asked questions

Do my stores need separate GST registrations?

No. Multiple locations in the same state trade under one GSTIN — Finkitaabh models each as a location under that single registration, with its own billing series and staff. Each location can also hold an optional own-GSTIN if you later expand into another state.

How do you stop two counters issuing the same invoice number?

Each location has its own gapless, concurrency-safe counter — an atomic per-company, per-type, per-period sequence — so two clerks billing simultaneously can never collide or skip a number. A guard also refuses two locations sharing the same number shape, which would be a Rule 46 violation.

Can a branch employee see other branches' data?

Only if you allow it. Staff are tied to one or more locations and can see and edit only those locations' documents; anything outside their scope returns a 404. Owners and managers are unrestricted, and a reassignment takes effect on the member's next sign-in.

Are my GST returns still filed as one?

Yes. Every location posts into a single double-entry ledger under the one GSTIN, so GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and the GSTR-9 annual return are generated from the combined books — you file once for the registration, not once per store.

Can each store have its own invoice numbering format?

Yes. Numbering is configurable per document type and per location — prefix, suffix, separator, minimum digits, financial-year format and reset policy — with a live preview and a 16-character Rule 46 budget meter so a format can never print an illegal number.

What about stock moving between my branches?

Stock is real-time with weighted-average valuation from an append-only movement ledger, and delivery challans carry full transport particulars — including transfer-from and transfer-to addresses — for goods moving between branches, godowns or job workers.
